Using an example, this chapter explains how to create a sales taxonomy as well as how to copy categories and their products from a primary taxonomy to a sales taxonomy.
Create a sales taxonomy
In this step, a sales taxonomy is created. Taxonomies consist of a publication and its subordinate version. In order to create a new taxonomy, proceed as follows:
- Go to the “Taxonomies” area of the “Categories” section in iPIM CC.
- From the menu in the uppermost card, select the option “Sales channels [SALE]”.

- Click on the button in the footer of the lower card to call up the corresponding dialog box.
- Enter an identifier for the publication in the “Publication identifier” field.
- Click on the
button in the “Name” field to proceed to the slider with the input fields for entering the multi-lingual publication names.

- Enter the multi-lingual publication names in the corresponding input fields.
- Click on the button to get back to the previous slider.

- Possibly select a language from the “Language” menu.
- Possibly select a currency from the “Currency” menu.
- Possibly select a client from the “Client” menu.
- Select the option “iSHOP export” from the “Export channel” menu.
- Click on the button to proceed to the next slider.

- Possibly change the identifier of the version or the multilingual names of the version if they are to deviate from the identifier and the names of the publication.
- Click on the button to finalise the creation of the taxonomy. If the process was successful, a corresponding message will appear.
The taxonomy is now created. After the next master data synchronisation the taxonomy is visible in the iPIM Portal.

Copy categories and products
In this step, a primary taxonomy category, it’s subordinate categories and the products contained in these categories are copied and pasted into the sales taxonomy:
- Call up the iPIM Portal and go to the “Taxonomies” app.
- In the “Taxonomy search” card, choose the superordinate category.
Possibly use the text search to filter the category list by a search term. - Move the mouse cursor over the category. A menu bar with multiple action buttons then appears.
- Click on the
button to call up the corresponding dialog box.

- From the upper menu, select the sales taxonomy as the target taxonomy.
- Click on the root node of the taxonomy.
- Move the “Copy products” toggle switch to the
position so that also the products of the copied categories are copied. - Move the “Include subcategories” toggle switch to the
position so that also the subordinate categories of the copied category are copied. - Click on the button to trigger the copying of the categories and products. If the process was started successfully, a corresponding message appears.

Once the copying procedure is completed and a master data synchronization is done, the copied categories and products are shown in the sales taxonomy.

The copied categories will not be visible before a master data synchronisation was carried out. This can be done in the “Administration” section.
In the iSHOP storefront, the category IDs are a part of the URLs of shop pages, which results in consistent SEO-friendly URLs.
