Duplicate item

The iPIM Portal does not offer an action to duplicate items directly. Though, there is a workaround for which the “Create item” and the “Copy from” actions are used. Using a simple example, this chapter explains how to “duplicate” an item. For this purpose, a new item is created for a product. And following this, the attribute values of the original item are copied to the newly created item.

Note
Apart from attribute values you can also copy other data ranges such as texts, prices and digital assets.

1. Call up the product

In the first step, the superordinate product is called up:

  1. Access the iPIM Portal.
  2. Call up the “Product details” app and go the “Attributes” tab.
  1. Enter the product number of the superordinate product in the “Product number” field .
  2. Click on the SUCHEN button  to trigger the search. Chevron rightOnce the search was carried out, the product and its variants are shown below the search field.

2. Create an item

In this step, a new item is created for the called-up product:

  1. Click on the Action menubutton in the footer access the action menu.
  2. Click on the option "Data" to expand the corresponding submenu.
  3. In the submenu, click on the option "Create item" to call up the corresponding dialog box.
  1. From the “Variantenattribut” menu , select a dimensioning attribute.*
  2. Click on the SAVE button to trigger the item creation.
The dialog box closes and a success message is shown. The new item is now created. It is shown in the product structure of the left card.

*In this example, a three-step product strucure is used. Hence, you need to select a value for the dimensioning variant attribute. If you select an attribute value for which the product already has a variant, the new item is allocated to this variant. If you select an attribute value for which the product does not possess a variant, an appropriate new variant is created and the new item is allocated to this variant.

3. Copy attribute values

In this step, the attribute values of the original item are copied to the newly created item. Here, this is shown using the example of the attribute “Attribut 401”:

  1. In the “Product search” card, tick the product and both its items. Chevron rightThe product and the items are shown in the table on the right side.

At this point in time, only the original item possesses a value for the attribute “Attribut 401”
  1. If not already set, select the option “Items” from the “Data view” menu .
  2. Tick the newly created item to which the attribute values of the original item are to be copied.
  1. Click on the Action menubutton in the footer access the action menu.
  2. Click on the option "Data" to expand the corresponding submenu.
  3. In the submenu, click on the option "Copy from" to call up the corresponding dialog box.
  1. Enter the product number of the superordinate product in the “Product number” field.
  2. Click on the SEARCH button to trigger the search.
Once the search was carried out, the items are shown in the table on the right side.
  3. Tick the original item whose attribute values are to be copied.
  4. Click on “Select data” to proceed to the next slider.
  1. Transfer the data range “Attribute” from the left column to the right column to select it. To do so, click on the data range.
  2. Click on the ACCEPT button to finalise the copying of the attribute values.
The dialog box closes and a success message is shown. The attribute values of the original item are now also allocated to the newly created item.

Once the “Copy from” action was carried out, also the newly created item possesses an attribute value for the attribute “Attribut 401”.
