Using an example, this chapter explains how to upload a digital asset and allocate it to a product. In this example, the digital asset is assigned to the product with the product number “P7000151709” as the main image. Hereby, the digital asset is stored on the product level, the context level as well as the german locale level.
Call up the product
In this step, the product with the product number “P7000151709” is called up:
- Go to the “Product details” app.
- Enter the product number in the search field of the “Product search” card.
- Click on the button to carry out the search. Following this, the product is shown below the search field.
Upload the digital asset and assign it
In this step, the digital asset is uploaded and assigned to the product, whereby the digital asset is stored on the main context level and the german data locale level. Additionally, it is specified in which category of the relevant digital asset structure the digital asset is stored:
- Go to the “Digital assets” tab.
- In the left-hand card, tick the product.
- From the “Context” menu, select the main context level (in this example “Customer”).
- From the “Locale” menu, select the german locale level.
- From the menu, select a system that allows to upload of digital assets (in this example “iPIM View”).
- Drag the digital asset over the drop area and drop it there. Following this, the digital asset is loaded into the cache. If the upload was successful, this is shown in the upload status overview below the drop area.
- Maintain the values for the relevant digital asset attributes that represent the properties of the digital asset.
- Enter a digital asset name in the “Name” field.
- From the “Categories” menu, select the digital asset structure (in this example “DA structure 24”). Digital asset structures are directories for storing digital assets. More about this you can find here.
- From the “Category name” menu, select the category of the digital asset structure where the digital asset is to be stored (in this case “Category 1”).
- If not already ticked, tick the product in the “Product-/Item number” menu.
- From the “Type” menu, select the image type (in this example “Main image”).

- Click on the button to finalise the uploading and allocating of the digital asset. If the process was successful, a corresponding message will appear.
The digital asset is now allocated to the product.
