Intermediate attributes and conditional attribute setting

Using a simple example, this chapter explains how to import a supplier attribute and map it to an intermediate attribute. Following this, a conditional attribute setting rule is used to copy the values of the intermediate attribute to a target attribute as long as a specified condition is fulfilled. Otherwise the target attribute remains without a value.

Note
This chapter merely explains the use of intermediate attributes and the use of “Conditional attribute setting” type cleansing rules. In order to find an example for a complete catalog process, click here.

Step 1: Import

In this step, a catalog file with the following item data is imported for the catalog “Cat_04”, whereby the import parameters for this catalog have already been configured:

  1. Go to the catalog overview of iPIM Supply.
  1. Click on the catalog name to access it.
  2. Go to “Catalog process” tab.
  1. In the column of the process step “Import”, click on the Execute button to call up the corresponding dialog box.
  1. Drag the catalog file over the drop area and drop it there. Or click on the Browse files button to call up the catalog file via the file manager. Following this, the file is loaded into the cache and the file name is shown below the drop area.
  2. Click on the Start import button to trigger the import.
Once the import was carried out, the items are created in iPIM Supply. They can be called up via the “Items” tab.

Step 2: Transformation

In this step, the transformation of the imported item data is configured:

  • In the column of the process step “Transformation”, click on “Transformation” to call up the transformation configuration.

Step 2.1: Set up attribute mappings

In this step, the attribute mappings are set up:

  • Configure the attribute mappings as shown below:

In this example, the supplier attribute “Random number” is mapped to the iPIM Supply attribute “Intermediate attribute (IntNumbAtt24)”. Following this, a cleansing rule is used to copy the values on the intermediate attribute to the target attribute “Target attribute 24 (TargNumbAtt24)” as long as a specified condition is fulfilled. For this purpose, the target attribute is initially left empty (Supplier attribute=<Empty>).  Additionally, the supplier attribute “Body color” is mapped to the iPIM Supply attribute “variantkey”. In this example, the attribute “variantkey” is used as the dimensioning variant key which in a three-stage product structure is needed for the creation of variants and items.

Step 2.2: Set up the cleansing rule

In this step, a cleansing rule of the type “Conditional attribute setting” is set up:

  1. Scroll to the “Cleansing rules” section.
  1. From the “Rule type” menu, select the option “Conditional attribute setting”.
  2. Click on the Add button to call up the corresponding dialog box.
  1. Enter a name for the cleansing rule in the “Title” field.
  2. From the “Order” menu, select the option “After transformation” to specify that the attribute value modification only affects the transformed iPIM Supply attributes.
  3. From the “Attribute” menu, select the target attribute to which the target values will be allocated to (in this example “Target attribute 24”).
  4. From the “Attribute to compare” menu, select the comparison attribute (in this example “Intermediate attribute”).
  5. From the “Comparator” menu, select the option
    “< (less)”
  6. From the “Compared type” menu, select the option “Constant”.

The cleansing rule checks if the value of the attribute “Intermediate attribute” is smaller than 180. If the value is smaller than 180, the value of the attribute “Intermediate attribute” is copied to the attribute “Target attribute 24”.
  1. Enter the value “180” in the “Compared value” field.
  2. From the “Target type” menu, select the option “Attribute” to specify that the value of another attribute is copied to the target attribute.
  3. From the “Target value” menu, select the attribute whose value is copied to the target attribute (in this example “Intermediate attribute”).
  4. Click on the Save button to finalise the setup of the cleansing rule.

Step 2.3: Carry out the transformation

In this step, the transformation is carried out to allocate the supplier attribute values to the respective iPIM Supply attributes according to the set up configuration:

  1. Go back to the “Catalog process” tab.
  1. In the column of the process step “Transformation”, click on the
Execute button. Following this, an input prompt window appears.
  2. Click on the Yes button to trigger the transformation.

Once the transformation is complete, the iPIM Supply attributes possess the corresponding values:

For this item, the value of the attribute “Intermediate attribute” was copied to the attribute “Target attribute 24” as the value is smaller than 180.

For this item, the value of the attribute “Intermediate attribute” is larger than 180. Hence, the attribute “Target attribute 24” remains without a value.
Note
In this example, no mapping was made to the appropriate category of the primary taxonomy. However, this is necessary in order to carry out the synchronisation with iPIM in order to create the corresponding products there.
