Create category mappings

Using an example, this chapter explains how to set up a category mapping. The category mapping in this example effects that products that are allocated to the primary taxonomy category “Toaster”, are automatically allocated to the category “Toaster” of the sales taxonomy “Sales channel 704” as well. An additional filter effects that the category mapping is applied only to products where the attribute “B704-Brand” possesses the value “Feiliao”.

INFO
Detailed information about how to set up a category mapping you can find here. And a list of the required rights you can find here.

Select the source category

In this step, the source category is selected. In this example, the source category is the category “Toaster” of the primary taxonomy to which the respective products are allocated initially:

  1. Go to the iPIM CC module and call up the “Mapping” area of the “Category” section.
  1. Move the toggle switch to the Off position (Source tree).
  2. Select the source taxonomy from the menu. In this case, this is “Purchase category version”. Following this, the corresponding category directory is shown below the menu.
  3. Choose the source category from the category directory. Possibly use the text search to filter the selection of categories by a search term.
  4. Click on the category to select it.

Set up the category mapping

In this step, the category mapping is set up:

  1. Click on the CREATE button in the footer of the “Category/relation” card to call up the corresponding dialog box.
  1. Select the target taxonomy from the menu (in this example “Sales channel 704”). Following this, the corresponding category directory is shown below the menu.
  2. Choose the target category from the category directory. Possibly use the text search to filter the list of categories by a search term.
  3. Tick the category to select it.
  4. Click on the SAVE button to generate the category mapping. If the process was successful, a corresponding message appears and the newly generated category mapping is shown in the table.

Set up the filter

In this step, the filter is set up. The filter effects that the category mapping is applied only to products where the attribute “B704-Brand” possesses the value “Feiliao”:

  1. In the “Category/relation” card, click on the category mapping to select it.
  1. Click on the CREATE button in the footer of the “Filter” card to call up the corresponding dialog box.
  1. Select the comparison attribute whose attribute value is to be used as the filter parameter (in this case “B704-Brand”).
  2. Enter a search term in the search field above the left column to filter the list of available attributes by a search term.
  3. Transfer the attribute from the left column to the right column to select it. To do so, click on the attribute.
  4. Click on the ACCEPT button to generate the filter. If the process was successful, a corresponding message will appear and the filter is shown in the table.
  1. Configure the filter:
    1. Double-click in the table cell of the value column and select the filter value from the menu (in this case “Feiliao”).
    2. If not already set, select the option “equals” from the menu in the “Condition” column in order to specify that the category mapping is applied to any product where the comparison attribute possesses the specified the filter value.
  2. Click on the SAVE button to save your filter configuration. If the process is successful, a corresponding message will appear.
The comparison attribute in this example is a list of values attribute so that a filter value can be selected from a drop-down menu. For example, in case of a string type attribute, the filter value needs to be entered manually.

The category mapping is now created. If items are imported via iPIM Supply and the products resulting from this are allocated to the primary taxonomy category “Toaster”, any product where the attribute “B704-Brand” possesses the value “Feiliao” is allocated to the category “Toaster” of the sales taxonomy “Sales channel 704” as well.
