Create text templates

Templates can be used to create presets for the automated generation of texts and attribute values. This chapter explains how to create templates using the example of a simple template which can be used to create english product texts of the type “Plain” that are comprised of particular attribute values and specified text fragments. Finally, it is is explained how to generate a text for a particular product using the template, whereby the text is stored on the english locale level as well as on the main context level.

INFO
Detailed information about how to create templates you can find here. And a list of the required rights you can find here.

Step 1: Create the template

In this step, the template is created:

  1. Go to the “Text setup” area of the “Text management” section in iPIM CC.
  2. Click on the Add button in the left card to call up the corresponding dialog box.
  1. Enter a template name in the field “Identifier”.
  2. From the “Scope” menu, select the option “Text”.
  3. From the “Text type” menu, select the option “Plain” for plain text.
  4. From the “Target language” menu, select the option “English”.
  5. From the “Context” menu, select the main context level which in this case is “Customer”.
  6. Click on the SAVE button to finalise the creation of the template.

Step 2: Configure the template

In this step, the template is configured by adding and specifying the appropriate mappings. When later generating the text, the text will be compiled from the underlying values of various mappings. In this example, the mapping types “Attribute” and “Constant” are used. Mappings of the “Attribute” type refer to a specified attribute. When later generating a text, the value of this attribute is used. For mappings of the “Constant” type, a specific text fragment is defined.

In this specific case, a series of mappings is set up, from whose underlying attribute values and text fragments the generated text is compiled according to the following pattern: Brand + Product name + “:” + Devicetype + “with” + Breadslots + “bread slots” + Roaststages + “roast stages and a housing” + Housingmaterial + “in the color” + variantKey*/**

INFO
  • *In this line-up, elements in italics are representing attributes respectivly attribute values whereas elements in quotation marks are representing specified text fragments (Contant).
  • **In this example, the dimensioning attribute “variantKey” indicates the color.
  1. Add the first mapping. To do so, click on the CREATE button in the footer to call up the corresponding dialog box.
  1. From the menu, select the option “Attribute”.
  2. Click on the SAVE button to create the mapping. Following this, the dialog box closes and the mapping appears as a new entry in the table.
  1. From the menu in the “Value” column, select the appropriate attribute (in this example “B704 (Brand)”).
  2. From the menu in the “Configuration” column, select the option “Value” so that only the attribute value is used when generating a text.
  3. From the menu in the “Ending” column, select the option “Space” so that there will be an empty space between this and the following mapping.
  4. Click on the SAVE button to save the mapping.
  1. Add the second mapping. To do so, click on the CREATE button in the footer to call up the corresponding dialog box.
  1. From the menu, select the option “Attribute”.
  2. Click on the SAVE button to create the mapping. Following this, the dialog box closes and the mapping appears as a new entry in the table.
  1. From the menu in the “Value” column, select the appropriate attribute (in this example “Product name (ShortDescription)”).
  2. From the menu in the “Configuration” column, select the option “Value” so that only the attribute value is used when generating a text.
  3. Click on the SAVE button to save the mapping.
  1. Add the third mapping. To do so, click on the CREATE button in the footer to call up the corresponding dialog box.
  1. From the menu, select the option “Constant”.
  2. Click on the SAVE button to create the mapping. Following this, the dialog box closes and the mapping appears as a new entry in the table.
  1. Double-click in the table cell of the “Value” column and enter the value “:”.
  2. From the menu in the “Configuration” column, select the option “Value”
  3. From the menu in the “Ending” column, select the option “Space” so that there will be an empty space between this and the following mapping.
  4. Click on the SAVE button to save the mapping.
  1. Configure the remaining template as shown below.

Step 3: Generate the text

In this step, a text for the product with the product number “P7000151703” is generated using the template, whereby the text is stored on the english locale level as well as on the main context level:

  1. Call up the iPIM Portal and go to the “Texts” tab of the “Product details” app.
  1. Enter the product number in the search field of the left card.
  2. Click on the SEARCH button to carry out the search. Once the search was completed successfully, the product is shown below the search field.
  1. Tick the product to select it.
  1. Click on the GENERATE TEXT button in the footer to call up the corresponding dialog box.
  1. From the menu “Text type”, select the option “Plain” for plain text.
  2. From the menu “Locale”, select the option “English”.
  3. From the menu “Text configuration”, select the template (in this example “Textmaster 2001”).
  4. From the menu “Context”, select the main context level (in this case “Customer”)
  5. If not already ticked, tick the product in the “Product-/Item name” menu.
  6. Click on the SAVE button to trigger the text generation. If the process was successful, a corresponding message appears and the newly generated text is shown in the table.
