Clients are a part of the granular authorisation concept of the iPIM system. Via clients you can establish independant access areas with view and edit rights for selected primary, secondary and archive taxonomies. Hereby, clients and users are related via roles and rights. The client concept also extends to the option to create context levels which allow the user to maintain product data on different data levels.
This chapter explains how to create a client using the example of a client that has two subordinate context levels which different view and edit rights are assigned to, so that users can view and edit product data on the various levels, depending on the rights assigned to them.
- Make sure to relate a client to the desired locales.
- Make sure that the view right for the client that is required for the login is assigned to a role that is also related the client or to no client at all.
Step 1: Create the client
In this step, the client is created:
- Click on the button in the uppermost card to call up the corresponding dialog box.
- Enter an identifier in the input field “Identifier” (in this example “mainclient”). This identifier uniquely identifies the client.
- Enter an export identifier in the input field “Export identifier” (in this example “mainclient_exp”).
- Click on the
button in the “Description” field to get to the slider where you can enter the multilingual names for the client.

- Enter the multilingual names for the client in the various input fields.
- Click on the button to get back to the previous slider.

- From the “Version” menu, select the primary taxonomy (in this example “Customer”).
- From the “Client language” menu, select the option “English” to specify this locale as the default user interface language for the client.
- Assign a view right to the client. Users possessing this right can log in with the client. To do so, click on the
button in the “View right” field. Following this, you will be directed to a slider that shows the rights directory.

- Choose the a right from the rights directory (in this example “MC-View”). Possibly use the text search to filter the list of rights by search term.
- Click on the right to select it. Following this, you will be directed back to the previous slider.

- Assign an edit right to the client. Any user who possesses this right will have edit rights in the selected taxonomy. To do so, click on the
button in the “Edit right” field to get to the corresponding slider and select a right (in this example “MC-Edit”). - Click on the button to finalise the creating of the client. If the process was successful, a corresponding message will appear.
The client is now created.

Step 2: Create the first context
In this step, the first context is created:
- Click on the button in the footer of the “Context” card to call up the corresponding dialog box.
- Enter an identifier in the input field “Identifier” (in this example “cl11”). This identifier uniquely identifies the client.
- Enter an export identifier in the input field “Export identifier” (in this example “cl11_exp”).
- Click on the
button in the “Description” field to get to the slider where you can enter the multilingual names for the context.

- Enter the multilingual names for the context in the various input fields.
- Click on the button to get back to the previous slider.

button in the “Edit right” field to get to the corresponding slider and select a right (in this example “CL12-Edit”). - Click on the button to finalise the creating of the context. If the process was successful, a corresponding message will appear.
The context is now created.

Overview of the assigned rights
The following table shows an overview of the view and edit rights that are assigned to the client and to the context levels:
| Level | View right | Edit right |

Exemplary users
The following table shows an overview of some exemplary users and the rights assigned to them. The rights assignments shown below ensures, for example, that “User 3” can only log in to the client, but they cannot edit product data on the main context level (client level). They can only edit product data on the context level “Context 1.1” for which he also has the appropriate edit rights.
