There are generally two kinds of languages in the iPIM system: The UI language is the language that is used to localize the user interface elements. The locale is the language that is used to localize data (attributes respectively attribute values).
This chapter explains how to create a new data locale using the example of the data locale “Welsh” that is related to the client “Client 704 (client704)”. Users that are logged in with this client can view and edit product data on this locale level as long as they possess the view and edit rights for the locale.
Step 1: Create the locale
In this step, the locale is created:
- Go to the “Languages” area in the “System setup” section in iPIM CC.
- Click on the button to call up the corresponding dialog box.
- Enter a valid ISO code* in the input field “ISO code” (in this example “cyCY”).
- Enter an export ISO code in the input field “Export ISO code” (in this example “cy_CY”).
- Click on the
button in the “Description” field to get to the slider where you can enter the multilingual names for the locale.

- Enter the multilingual names for the locale in the various input fields.
- Click on the button to get back to the previous slider.

- Enter a positive truth value in the input field “Boolean value for Yes” (in this example “Oes”).
- Enter a negative truth value in the input field “Boolean value for No” (in this example “Nac ydw”).
- Assign a view right to the locale. Users possessing this right can view product data that is stored on this locale level. To do so, click on the
button in the “View right” field to get to the corresponding slider.

- Choose a right from the rights directory (in this example “Client Customer View”). Possibly use the text search to filter the list of available rights by a search term.
- Click on the right to select it. Following this, you will be redirected to the previous slider.

- Assign an edit right to the locale. Users possessing this right can edit product data that is stored on this locale level. To do so, click on the
button in the “Edit right” field to get to the corresponding slider and select a right (in this example “Client Customer Edit”). - Click on the button to finalise the process. If the process was successful, a corresponding message appears.
The locale is now created.

*The required ISO code consists of a language code in lower case letters and a country code in upper case letters.
Step 2: Relate the locale to a client
In this step, the locale is related to the client “Client 704”:
- Click on the button in the footer of the “Clients” card to call up the corresponding dialog box.
- Select the client by transfering it from the left column to the right column. To do so, click on the client.
- Click on the button to finalise the client selection. If the process was successful, a corresponding message will appear.
The locale is now related to the client.
