In the iPIM system, types are used to configurate different types of product data such as digital assets, texts, prices or product relations. Via type values, the different variants of product data types can be defined almost arbitrarily
This chapter explains how to set up type values using the example of a text type that can be used in particular categories and by users who possess the rights that were specified for the text type. Additionally, via the appropriate type property* it is specified that text datasets of this type are stored as plain text without HTML tags.
Step 1: Select the superordinate type
In the first step, the superordinate type for the new text type is selected:
- Click on the “Select type” menu to call up the corresponding selection menu.
- Choose the appropriate type from the list (in this example “TEXT_TYPE”) for text types.
- Click on the type to select it.

Step 2: Create the type value
In this step, the text type is created:
- Click on the button in the footer of the lower card to call up the corresponding dialog box.
- Enter an identifier for the text type in the “ID” field.
- Click on the button in the “Description” field to proceed to the slider where you can enter the multilingual names for the text type.

- Enter the multilingual names for the text type in the corresponding input fields. You don’t have to fill in all the input fields.
- Click on the button to get back to the previous slider.

- Assign an edit right to the text type. Users who possess the right can create text datasets of this type and they can edit existing text datasets. To do so, click on the
button in the “Edit right” field to proceed to the corresponding slider.

- Choose a right from the rights directory (in this example “R44-Write”). Possibly use the text search to filter the list of rights by a search term.
- Click on the right to select it. Following this, you will be redirected to the previous slider.
- Assign a view right to the text type. Users who possess this right can view text datasets of this text type. To do so, click on the
button to proceed to the corresponding slider and select a right from the rights directory (in this example “R44-Read”).

- Click on the button to finalise the creating of the text type. If the process was successful, a corresponding message will appear.
The text type is now created.

Step 3: Specify category relations
In this step, the text type is related to various categories of the primary taxonomy to specify that this text type can only be used in these categories:
- Double-click on the table cell of the “Categories” column to call up the corresponding dialog box.

- Click on the “ADD” button to access the category selection menu.

- From the upper menu, select the primary taxonomy (in this example “Customer”). Following this, the category directory of the taxonomy is shown below the menu.
- Choose the categories from the category directory. Possible use the text search to filter the list of categories by a search term.
- Tick the categories.
- Click on the button to confirm the category selection and to leave the category selection menu.

- Click on the button to finalise the set up of the category relations. If the process was successful, a corresponding message will appear.
The text type is now related to the selected categories.

Step 4: Define the text type as plain text
In this step, the text type is defined as plain text without HTML tags via the appropriate type property:
- Click on the
button to call up the corresponding dialog box.
- Choose the appropriate type property from the list of type properties. In this example the type property is REST API: Remove HTML tags. Possibly use the text search above the left column to filter the list to type properties by a search term.
- Transfer the type property from the left column to the right column to select it. To do so, click on the type property.
- Click on the button to finalise the selecting of type property. Following this, the dialog box closes and the type property is shown in the table.

- Configure the type property:
- Double-click in the table cell of the “REST API: Remove HTML tags” column.
- Select the option YES and leave the cell.
- Click on the button to save your settings. If the process was successful, a corresponding message will appear.

The text type is now created and configured.
