Using an example, this chapter explains how to assign a right to an existing user whereby the right and the user are related via an existing role. Firstly, the role is related to the user. Secondly, the right is assigned to the role.
Assigning roles and rights to a user is done in the “Users, Roles & Rights” section of iPIM CC. In order to get to a list of the required rights, click here.
Step 1: Call up the user
In this step, the user is called up:
- Go to the “Users” area of the “Users, Roles & Rights” section in iPIM CC.
- Click on the “Select user” menu to expand it.
- Choose the user from the list of available users. Possibly use the text search to filter the list of users by a search term.
- Click on the user to select it.
Step 2: Relate the role
In this step, the user is related to the role:
- Click on the button in the footer of the “Roles” card to call up the corresponding dialog box.
- Select the role (in this example “R20112024”):
- Choose the role from the list of roles. Possibly use the text search to filter the list of roles by a search term.
- Transfer the role from the left column to the right column. To do so, click on the role.
- Click on the button to finalise the selection of the role.
Step 3: Assign the role
In this step, the right is assigned to the role:
- Click on the identifier of the role. Following this, you will be directed to the “Roles” section where the role is called up.
- Scroll to the “Rights” card. The table in this card lists the rights that are already assigned to the role.
- Click on the button in the footer of the card to call up the corresponding dialog box.
- Select the right (in this example “P20112024”):
- Choose the right from the list of rights. Possibly use the text search to filter the list of rights by a search term.
- Transfer the right from the left column to the right column. To do so, click on the right.
- Click on the button to finalise the selection of the right.
The right is now assigned to the user.
