FAQ

What can I do in the “Units” section?

In the “Units” section, users can create, manage and delete the base quantities used within the iPIM system, such as size, weight or volume. In doing so, they can assign the respective units of measurement to the base quantities and determine conversion factors between the units of measurement of a base quantity.

Why can I assign a user right to a base quantity?

The “User right” field lets you select a right from the rights directory and assign it to the base quantity. This allows you to determine which users can access the respective base quantity.

Why do some conversions require a constant in addition to the factor?

For particular conversions, such as the conversion between the temperature scales “Celsius” and “Fahrenheit”, a conversion factor alone is not sufficient to calculate the value correctly. In such cases, a conversion constant is additionally required, which can be entered in the “Constant” field.
