App overview

Apps are applications which among other things provide the user with the tools to maintain product data. In addition to iPIM‘s own apps which can be installed, deinstalled and shared with users via user roles, the user can install external apps to adapt the iPIM system to their individual needs. Learn more The iPIM Portal offers different accesses to the installed apps. An overview over the installed apps can be reached via the corresponding button in the left sidebar. Here the user can install or deinstall apps. Furthermore, apps can be grouped in so-called Toolbox roles. Then they can be accessed directly via the respective icon in the Toolbox section of the left sidebar. And lastly, apps can be added as tiles to the module section of the Dashboard, so that the user can access them from there. Less information

Calling up the app overview

To call up the app overview, proceed as follows:

1. Move the mouse cursor over the  in the left sidebar to show the corresponding fold-out menu.
2. Click on the option “Apps”. Then you will be directed to the app overview.

Filter the app selection using the free-text search

In the app overview the you have a list of the the available apps which could be plenty. Using the text search you can filter the list of apps by a search term. To do so, proceed as follows:

• Enter a search term in the input field “Free text search”. Then the selection of apps is reduced to those which correspond to the entered search term.

Change the view

You can change the view of the app overview. You can choose between a tile view and a list view.

• In order to switch the view, select the appropriate option from the “View” menu.

Call up an app

Some of the listed apps can be called up via the app overview. These apps are provided with a corresponding button. Other apps can be accessed via the widget menu in the right sidebar. Or they are embedded as children in other apps. They can be accessed via the respective tab of the parent app.

• To open an app in the tile view, click on the “ USE APP” button in the respective tile.

In order to call up an app in the list view, click on the respective button.

Actions

In the tile view as well as the list view the user is provided with several action buttons.

Set as favourite

In the app overview, the apps are listed in an alphabetical order. You can set apps as favourites so that they are placed at the top of the list:

• In order to set an app as a favorite, click on the  button. Then also the button will change.
• In order to revoke the favorite status from an app, click on the respective button.

App configuration

Via the button you can the call up the dialog box where you can assign a user role to the respective app. To do so, proceed as follows:

1. Click on the  button to call up the corresponding dialog box.
2. Click on the menu to expand it.
3. Tick a role to select it. You can also tick multiple roles. User that are related to a selected role are then allowed to use the app.

• In order to finish the process, click on the SAVE button. A success message is shown.
• In order to cancel the process, click on the CANCEL button.

Set the app update configuration

Via the  button you can call up the dialog box where you can set the update mode for the respective app. To do so, proceed as follows:

1. Click on the button to call up the corresponding dialog box.
2. Select an update mode. You can choose between three different modes:
   • Never: The app will never be updated.
   • Always: The app will be updated with every new version (e.g. also develop snapshots).
   • Only release versions: The app will only be updated when an official version is released.

• In order to finish the process, click on the SAVE button. A success message is shown.
• In order to cancel the process, click on the CANCEL button.

Deinstall apps

Via the  button you can deinstall the respective app. To do so, proceed as follows:

1. Click on the  button to call up the corresponding dialog box.
2. Click on the “ACCEPT” button to confirm the deinstallation. If the process was successful, a corresponding message will appear and the respective app will disappear from the list of apps.

A deinstalled app can be reinstalled at any time.

Install apps

Via the installation mask you can install iPIM apps or you can upload external apps to embed them in the iPIM environment.

Install an iPIM app

In order to install an iPIM app, proceed as follows:

1. Click on the INSTALL APP button to call up the corresponding dialog box.
2. In the tab “Select app from list”, choose an app from the list of apps.
3. Click on the app to select it. Possibly use the text search to filter the list of apps by a search term. To do so, enter a search term in the “Free text search” field. While you enter the search term, the list of apps will be narrowed to down to those which correspond to the search term.
4. Select the desired version from the menu “Version” menu.

• In order to finish the process, click on the INSTALL button. A success message is shown.
• In order to cancel the process, click on the CANCEL button.

Upload app

Via the “Upload app” function you can upload and an app and embed it in the iPIM Portal. To do so, proceed as follows:

1. Click on the INSTALL APP button to call up the corresponding dialog box.
2. In the “Upload app” tab, click on the “Select file” button to call up the file manager where you can select the installation file.
3. Click on the installation file to select it.

• In order to finish the process, click on the INSTALL button. A success message is shown.
• In order to cancel the process, click on the CANCEL button.

Instead of selecting a file via the file manager, you can upload it via drag and drop by it them in the drop area of the “Upload app” tab.

Rights

The identifier of rights are not shown correctly here as hyphens are shown as half square dashs. In order to search for a particular right in iPIM CC, copy the key to the clipboard and search for the key.
