By selecting the search mode, you can specify the principle according to which the search function works. This affects the search results and the performance of the search.
Standard: In the standard mode the search captures all the products whose product number, item number or product name start with the search term that was entered in the respective search field. The same applies to attribute values of localized and non-localized string type attributes. For example, a product number search for the search term “10009” captures products with the product numbers 100091, 100092, 100093 etc. and lists them in the “Product list” table.
Comfort: In the comfort mode the search captures all the products whose product number, item number or product name contain the search term that was entered in the respective search field. For example, a product number search for the search term “4711” captures products with the product numbers 104711, 247110, 471153 etc. and lists them in the “Product list” table.
Professional: In the professional mode you can specify a placeholder (wildcard). The placeholder is represented by the characters “%” or “*”. You can enter the placeholder at any given position of the search term. The same applies to attribute values of localized and non-localized string type attributes. For example, a product number search for the search term “1001%8″respectively “1001*8” captures products with the product numbers 100128, 100158, 100168 etc. and lists them in the “Product list” table.
