Category mapping

Using the action “Category mapping” you can automatically assign products to particular categories. Though, beforehand you have to define a category mapping for the respective source category in the “Mapping” area of the “Categories” section of iPIM CC. Usually the source category is the category of the primary taxonomy in which the respective product is stored. To execute a category mapping, proceed as follows:

1. In the respective product data table, tick the product. You can also tick multiple products.
2. Click on thebutton in the footer to access the action menu.
3. Move the cursor over the option Categories to show the corresponding submenu.
4. Click on the option “Category mapping”. Then the category mapping is executed. If the process is successful, a corresponding message will appear. The newly assigned categories can be viewed, for example, in the “Taxonomy” tab of the “Product details” app.

Remove from taxonomy

Using the action “Remove from taxonomy” you can remove selected products from a taxonomy. To do so, proceed as follows:

1. In the respective product data table, tick the product which you want to remove from a particular taxonomy.
2. Click on thebutton in the footer to access the action menu.
3. Move the cursor over the option “Categories” to show the corresponding submenu.
4. Click on the option “Remove from taxonomy” to call up the corresponing dialog box.
5. Select the taxonomy from the menu.

• In order to finish the process, click on the APPLY button. A success message is shown. The selected product is now removed from the selected taxonomy.
• In order to cancel the process, click on the CANCEL button.

Remove from category

Using the “Remove from category” action you can remove selected products from a category. To do so, proceed as follows:

1. In the respective product data table, tick the product which you want to remove from a particular category.
2. Click on thebutton in the footer to access the action menu.
3. Move the cursor over the option “Categories” to show the corresponding submenu.
4. Click on the option “Remove from category” to call up the corresponding dialog box.
5. Select the taxonomy from the menu. Following this, the corresponding category directory is shown below menu.
6. In the category structure, click on the category to select it.
   Possibly use the free-text search to filter the list of categories by a search term.

• In order to finish the process, click on the APPLY button. A success message is shown. The selected product is now removed from the selected category.
• In order to cancel the process, click on the CANCEL button.

Add to category

Using the “Add to category” action you can add selected products to a particular category. To do so, proceed as follows:

1. In the respective product data table, tick the product which you want to add to a particular category.
2. Click on thebutton in the footer to access the action menu.
3. Move the cursor over the option “Categories” to show the corresponding submenu.
4. Click on the option “Add to category” to call up the corresponding dialog box.
5. Select the taxonomy from the menu. Following this, the corresponding category directory is shown below menu.
6. In the category structure, click on the category to select it.
   Possibly use the free-text search to filter the list of categories by a search term.

What is required before the “Category mapping” action can be used?

Beforehand you have to define a category mapping for the respective source category in the “Mapping” area of the “Categories” section of iPIM CC. Usually the source category is the category of the primary taxonomy in which the respective product is stored.

What is the difference between “Remove from taxonomy” and “Remove from category”?

With “Remove from taxonomy”, the product is removed directly from the entire taxonomy after the taxonomy has been selected. With “Remove from category”, a taxonomy is selected first, following which the category directory of the taxonomy is shown, and then the specific category from which the product should be removed is selected.
