Aggregation (Golden record)

The aggregation is the first step in the catalog process of a Golden record catalog. In this step, the item data from different source catalogs are brought together, whereas every source catalog provides the item data from a particular supplier.

Configure the aggregation parameters

Via the configuration of the aggregation parameters you can assemble the selection of source catalogs and prioritize them. Here you can assign an individual color to each catalog. This later facilitates to discern from which source catalogs the attribute values of each attribute originate. Additionally, you can define which attribute is used as a unique item identifier when it comes to the merging of item data from the different source catalogs. And you can specify which attribute provides the article name.

Assemble source catalogs

In order to assemble the selection of source catalogs for a Golden Record catalog, proceed as follows:

  1. Call up the corresponding catalog.
  2. In the “Catalog Process” tab, click on “Aggregation” or select the option “Aggregation” from the “Configuration” menu to access the aggregation configuration page.
  1. Click on the Add button below the catalog table to call up the corresponding dialog box.
  1. From the menu , select a source catalog. You can also select multiple catalogs.
  2. Click on the Add button . Chevron rightThe dialog box closes and the selected source catalog appears in the catalog table.
  1. Possibly repeat the steps mentioned above to add further source catalogs.
  2. From the “Unique attribute for item merging” menu , select an iPIM attribute to be used as a unique item identifier (e.g. a model number).
  3. From the “Attribute with item description” menu , select the item attribute which contains the item name.
  4. In order to save your selection of source catalogs, click on the Save button below the catalog table.
INFO
First introduced in version 5.5.2: In order to call up one of the related catalogs, click on the respective catalog name.

Add further source catalogs

In order to add an additional source catalog to an existing selection of source catalogs, proceed as follows:

  1. Click on the Add button below the catalog table to call up the corresponding dialog box.
  2. From the menu, select the source catalog. You can also select multiple catalogs.
  3. Click on the Add button. Afterwards the dialog box closes and the selected source catalog appears in the catalog table.
  4. In order to finish the addding of an additional source catalog, click on the Save button below the catalog table.

Define catalog colors

By the catalog colours on the overview page of an item you can immediately see from which source catalogs the individual attribute values originate. To assign a colour to a source catalog, proceed as follows:

  1. In the table row of the catalog, click on the color field in the “Colour of the catalog” column to call up the corresponding dialog box.
  2. Select a colour. For this purpose, there are different options at your disposal.
  3. Click on the OK button. Afterwards the dialog box closes.
  4. Click on the Save button below the catalog table to save your color settings.

Edit the priorization order

In a descending order, the order of the source catalogs in the catalog table determines their general prioritization. The higher a catalog is situated in the table, the higher is its priorization. In order to edit the priorization order of the catalogs, proceed as follows:

  • In order to increase the priorization rank of a catalog, click on the Upwards arrow button in the table row of the respective source catalog.
  • In order to decrease the priorization rank of a catalog, click on the Downwards arrow button in the table row of the respective source catalog.
INFO
Instead of moving source catalogs using the arrow buttons you can also move them via drag & drop.

Remove catalogs

In order to remove a source catalog from a Golden Record catalog, proceed as follows:

  1. In the table row of the respective source catalog, click on the Entfernen button. Afterwards, the source catalog vanishes from the catalog table.
  2. Click on the Save button below the catalog table to confirm the removing of the source catalog.

Execute aggregation

In order to trigger an aggregation for a Golden Record catalog, proceed as follows:

  1. Call up the catalog and go to the “Catalog process” tab.
  2. In the “Aggregation” section, click on the Play button to call up the corresponding input window.
  3. Click on the Yes button to trigger the aggregation. Following this, a corresponding process message appears and an aggregation statistic is shown. Depending on whether the process was successful, partially successful or unsuccessful, the status traffic light changes to the corresponding color.

Aggregation report

The aggregation report shows you a list of essential information about the most recent aggregation. These are broken down by processes, events and results. In addition, there is a list of general messages and error reports. The latter are grouped in separate sections by errors and by items.

Access the aggregation report

  • In order to access the aggregation report for the most recent aggregation, click on the “Aggregation report” button. Following this, you will be directed to the corresponding overview page.

Unfold and collapse info sections

  • In order to unfold a particular info section, click on theunfoldbutton in the respective section.
  • In order to collapse a particular info section, click on thecollapsebutton in the respective section.

Export report data

This screenshots shows the user interface under version 5.8.

In the "Export" section you can export report data of a aggregation report, whereby the exported data can be filtered regarding various parameters. To do so, proceed as follows:

  1. From the "Select attribute set" menu , select a report type. You can choose between the options:
    • "Item messages" for an export of item messages only
    • "Process report" for an export of the whole aggregation report including the item messages
  2. From the "Select export format" menu , select the file format of the export file (.xslx or .csv).
  3. From the "Select item status" menu , possibly select an item status.
  4. From the "Select code" menu , possibly select an error code (since version 5.8).

Assembling and Managing Source Catalogs

Is it possible to select multiple source catalogs at once?

Yes, from the menu in the dialog box you can select a source catalog, and you can also select multiple catalogs at the same time.

Which attribute is used for unique item merging?

From the “Unique attribute for item merging” menu, an iPIM attribute is selected to be used as a unique item identifier, for example a model number. This attribute controls how the item data from the different source catalogs are merged.

Catalog Colors

What is the purpose of the catalog colors?
