Context attributes can be used to distribute context-specific values for an attribute to various contexts.

Use cases
Import and map context attributes
This section explains the set-up of a catalog file and the mapping of context-specific attributes using the example of varying model numbers.
- Add the corresponding iPIM Supply attribute as a context attribute as described in the previous section.

- Import the catalog file and map the supplier attributes to the corresponding iPIM Supply attributes. Hereby, you need to map the cross-context model number to the cross-context iPIM Supply attributes and the context-specific model number to the context-specific iPIM Supply attribute which was defined accordingly as described above.

- Carry out the process steps “Transformation”, “Approval” and “Synchronisation” to transfer the item data to iPIM.
FAQ
What are context attributes and what are they used for?
Context attributes can be used to distribute context-specific values for an attribute to various contexts, for example when a value differs depending on the sales channel or target platform.
How are attribute values generally handled in relation to the context?
In general, attribute values are written in the context that is defined in the catalog configuration. Context attributes make it possible to specifically deviate from this default behavior for individual attributes and distribute values on a context-specific basis.
