Transformation rules

The transformation of the imported item data is based on user-defined transformation rules. Simple attribute mappings form the basis of a transformation rule. An attribute mapping relates a supplier attribute to the respective iPIM Supply attribute. Attribute mappings can be extended by cleansing rules and validation rules.

INFO
The table shows the already created attribute mappings.Using the corresponding tools you can filter the list attribute mappings by a search term or you can manipulate their order. And in case of a multi-page list, you can navigate between the pages. Click here to learn more about this.

Define attribute mappings

In order to define an attribute mapping for allocating the imported supplier attributes to the corresponding iPIM Supply attributes, proceed as follows:

  1. Click on the Hinzufügen button below the attribute mapping table to call up the corresponding dialog box.
  1. From the menu in the “iPIM Supply attribute” column , select a supplier attribute from the imported file.
  2. From the menu in the “iPIM Supply attribute” column , select an appropriate iPIM Supply attribute.
Possibly use the text search to filter the list of attributes by a search term.
  1. Add the next attribute mapping. To do so, click on the Hinzufügen button . Then appears a new table entry. Select a supplier attribute and a corresponding iPIM Supply attribute. Repeat this procedure for every required attribute mapping.
  • In order to to complete the configuration of the attribute mappings, click on the Save button . The dialog box closes. The attribute mappings are now configured.
  • In order cancel the configuration, click on the Cancel button .
INFO
Instead of adding the attribute mappings for each imported attribute one by one you can use the automatic attribute detection which automatically registers all the imported supplier attributes. Click here for further information.

Use transformation actions

The following transformation actions are at your disposal and can be selected via the action menu:

New automatic attribute detection

Using this ation you can trigger an automatic attribute detection. This function registers the supplier attributes from the import file and ideally maps them automatically to the the corresponding iPIM Supply attributes. In order to use the automatic attribute detection, proceed as follows:

  1. From the menu  below the table, select the option “New automatic attribute detection”.
  2. Click on the Exceute button  to call up the corresponding dialog box. Here, the “Supplier attribute” column lists the registered supplier attributes. Map units of measurement

First introduced in version 5.5.3: Using this function you can map imported units of measurement which deviate from the default unit of measurement to attributes for which a default unit of measurement is specified. Hereby, the units of measurement are imported in a separate column in the import file. This section shows the function using the example of the following catalog file:

In this example, the unit of measurement is imported via a separate column. Later it is mapped as the unit of measurement for the iPIM Supply attribute which stores the weight.
  1. Import the catalog file as described here.
  2. Go to the transformation overview and specify the attribut mappings as described here. Though, omit the supplier attribute that represents the unit of measurement.
  3. In the table row of the attribute that represents the weight, click on the Edit button to call up the configuration page for the attribute mapping.
  1. From the menu in the middle, select the supplier attribute that represents the unit of measurement as the unit of measurement for the weight attribut.
  2. Click on the Save button to save your selection.
  1. Go back to the catalog process overview and carry out a transformation as described here. In the process, a validation error for the weight attribute occurs.
  2. Go back to the transformation overview.
  1. In the table row of the attribute, click on the map uoms button to call up the corresponding dialog box.
  1. From the left-hand menu , select the appropriate unit of measurement.
  2.  Click on the Save button to save your selection.
  1. Carry out another transformation. In the process, a warning for the weight attribute occurs.
  2. Call up the transformation report and scroll to the corresponding warning.
  1. Click on the button to discard the warning.
  1. Go back to the catalog process overview and carry out another transformation. This one is supposed to be without errors and warnings. Afterwards you can approve the imported items and synchronize them with iPIM.

Delete attribute mappings

In order to delete an individual attribute mapping, proceed as follows:

  1. In the table row of the attribute mapping, click on the remove button. Then it vanishes from the table.
  2. Click on the Save button at the bottom of the page to confirm the removal of the transformation rule.

Assigned profiles

First introduced in version 5.5.3: Via the Assigned profiles button you can call up an overview of the mapping profiles as well as the cleanser and validation profiles that are assigned to the active catalog.

  • In order call up the dialog box, click on the Assigned profiles button.
  • First introduced in version 5.7: In order to remove an assigned mapping profile, click on the Remove button on the line of the mapping profile.Arrow to the rightThe mapping profile vanishes from the table.

Use cases

Map imported attributes

In this example, the supplier attributes that were imported via the catalog file shown above are mapped. The supplier attributes are assigned the appropriate iPIM-Supply attributes.

  1. Via the action menu  below the table, select the “New automatic attribute detection” option.
  2. Click the Execute button to open the corresponding dialog box. The “Supplier attributes” column lists the supplier attributes recognized from the import file.
  1. From the menus in the “iPIM Supply attribute” column , select the iPIM Supply attributes that correspond to the individual supplier attributes.
  2. Click on the Save button to Complete the attribute mapping. The dialog box closes and a success message appears. The supplier attributes are now mapped to the corresponding iPIM-Supply attributes. The individual attribute mappings are displayed in the table.
Note
For subsequent synchronization, a mapping to the corresponding category or categories in the primary taxonomy must also be set up. To do this, supplier attributes can either be mapped via an attribute mapping, or a corresponding cleansing rule can be used.
Note
In this example, the supplier attribute 'Body color' which represents the different color variants of the imported item was mapped to the 'variantkey' attribute, which is used to create variants in a three-level product structure.

FAQ

Basics

What is the basis of a transformation rule?

The transformation of the imported item data is based on user-defined transformation rules, with attribute mappings forming their basis. An attribute mapping relates a supplier attribute to the respective attribute of the iPIM data model. Attribute mappings can additionally be extended by cleansing rules and validation rules.

Attribute mappings

Does every attribute mapping have to be created individually and manually?

No, instead of adding each mapping one by one, you can use the automatic attribute detection, which automatically registers the imported attributes and ideally maps them to the corresponding iPIM Supply attributes.

Automatic attribute detection

What do the status traffic light colors mean in the automatic attribute detection?

Green means the supplier attribute could already be mapped correctly to an iPIM Supply attribute, and no further action is required. Yellow indicates that an active mapping between the supplier attribute and an iPIM Supply attribute already exists, which can either be applied or overwritten with a new selection. Red means that no mapping could be established and it must be created manually via the menu in the “iPIM Supply attribute” column.

What should you do if the status traffic light of an attribute mapping remains red even after a manual mapping?

In this case, click on the corresponding button in the table row to get to the configuration overview for the respective attribute mapping. There, you can make further settings to resolve the issue.

Mapping profiles

What is a mapping profile used for?

A mapping profile is used to save an assembly of attribute mappings, price attributes, context attributes and localized attributes for repeated use. This allows a configuration that has already been created to be applied again to other catalogs if needed.

Are existing attribute mappings replaced by an applied mapping profile?

No, the attribute mappings from the mapping profile are added to the existing attribute mappings and don’t replace them. If desired, individual attribute mappings from the selected profile can be excluded from being used by clicking on the corresponding button in the respective row.

Edit attribute mappings and configure value mappings

What can be configured in the configuration overview of an individual attribute mapping?

In the configuration overview, you can, for example, select units of measurement or currencies for attributes of the corresponding attribute types and scopes. For a localized iPIM Supply attribute, you can also specify different supplier attributes as sources for the different locales.

What is the difference between ignoring and removing a supplier attribute value in the value mapping?

If a value is ignored, the table row remains but is greyed out, and in the following process steps the attribute value will neither be approved nor synchronized. If a value is removed instead, it vanishes completely from the table.

Map units of measurement

What is the “Map units of measurement” function used for?

First introduced in version 5.5.3, this function allows you to map imported units of measurement which deviate from the default unit of measurement to attributes for which a default unit of measurement is specified. Hereby, the units of measurement are imported in a separate column in the import file.
