Concatenate strings

A cleansing rule of this type can be used to cleanse imported supplier item data to the effect that the values of multiple supplier attributes are concatenated and allocated to a particular iPIM Supply attribute. This rule type can be applied to character string attributes and to number attribute. Though, number attribute values are handled as character strings.

INFO
In order to have a target attribute for the concatenated supplier attribute values, you have to add the respective iPIM Supply attribute to the transformation rules manually using the “Replensish attribute mapping” function. And you have to assign the iPIM Supply attribute value <empty> to the attribute.

In order to set up a cleansing rule of this type, proceed as follows:

  1. From the “Choose rule type” menu, select the rule type “ASIN”.
  2. Click on the Add button to call up the corresponding dialog box.
  1. Enter a name for the cleansing rule in the input field “Title”.
  2. From the “Order” menu, select the desired option. You can choose between:
    • Before transformation: The attribute value modification also affects the supplier attributes.
    • After transformation: The attribute value modification only affects the iPIM Supply attributes.
  3. From the “Attribute” menu, select the iPIM Supply attribute to which the concatenated supplier attribute values are to be allocated.
  4. Possibly enter a short description in the input field “Description”.
  5. Possibly tick the “Activate rule” checkbox to activate the rule.
  6. Possibly tick the checkbox “Internal rule” to specify that the cleansing rule is an internal rule. Internal rules can be used as subordinate rules for certain rule types such as “Conditional attribute setting”.
In this configuration, the values of the listed initial attributes are concatenated and allocated to the iPIM Supply attribute “Item description (ItemDesc)”, where empty spaces and a colon are placed between the attribute values. For example, the attribute values “123456”, “GCME LED-48” and “LED Light” are turned into the attribute value “123456: GCME LED-48 LED Light”.
  1. Put the desired concatenation chain together. The input fields for the first concatenation parameter are already shown. You can choose between the options Attribute for attribute values and Constant for specified fixed values:
    • Attribute: In order to include the value of a particular attribute in the concatenation chain, select the option Attribute from the “Type” menu and select the attribute from the menu next to it.
    • Constant: In order to include a fixed value in the concatenation chain, select the option Constant from the “Type” menu and enter the desired fixed value in the input field next to it.
  2. Possibly add further concatenation parameters:
    • Click on the Add button. Following this, a new set of input fields appears.
    • Configure the concatenation parameter as desired.
    • Possibly add further concatenation parameters.
  3. Possibly configure a test run and carry it out in order to check if the configuration of the rule is valid.
  • In order to finish the configuration, click on the Save button. If the process was successful, a corresponding message will appear. The cleansing rule of is now set up.
  • In order to cancel the process, click on the Cancel button.
Note
In order to place an empty space between two attribute values, you need to add a parameter of the Constant type and enter an empty space as the value.
