Extract substring (Index)

A cleansing rule of this type can be used to cleanse imported supplier item data in a way that text parts are extracted from supplier attribute values and allocated to the corresponding iPIM Supply attributes. In the process , the supplier attribute values are cropped up to a specified character and/or from a specified character on.

Note
This rule type can only be applied to character string attributes.

In order to set up a cleansing rule of this type, proceed as follows:

  1. From the “Choose rule type” menu, select the rule type “Extract substring (Index)”.
  2. Click on the Add button to call up the corresponding dialog box.
  1. Enter a name for the cleansing rule in the input field “Title”.
  2. From the “Order” menu, select the appropriate option. You can choose between:
    • Before transformation: The attribute value modification also affects the supplier attributes.
    • After transformation: The attribute value modification only affects the iPIM Supply attributes.
  3. From the “Attribute” menu, select the iPIM Supply attribute to which the extracted text parts are to be allocated.
In this example, the text parts between the 7th character and the 22nd character are extracted from the imported supplier attribute values. The rest is cropped.
  1. Possibly enter a short description in the input field “Description”.
  2. Possibly tick the “Activate rule” checkbox to activate the rule.
  3. Possibly tick the checkbox “Internal rule” to specify that the cleansing rule is an internal rule. Internal rules can be used as subordinate rules for certain rule types such as “Conditional attribute setting”.
  4. In the input field “Start index”, possibly enter a value. This value specifies up to which character the imported attribute values are cropped, whereby the entered value is included.
  5. In the input field “End index”, possibly enter a value. This value specifies from which character on the imported attribute values are cropped.
  6. Possibly configure a test run and carry it out in order to check if the configuration of the rule is valid.
  • In order to finish the configuration, click on the Save button. If the process was successful, a corresponding message will appear. The cleansing rule of is now set up.
  • In order to cancel the process, click on the Cancel button.
