Attribute consistency check

Validation rules of this type can be used to check imported item data whether specific the values of a iPIM Supply attribute comply with a certain condition. Such a condition could be that the values of the respective attribute is the same as a specified comparison value. For this purpose, you can define various conditions.

Note
In the process of a transformation, the validation rule is applied to the transformed iPIM Supply attributes.

In order to set up a validation rule of this type, proceed as follows:

  1. Select the rule type “Attribute consistency check” from the menu.
  2. Click on the Add button to call up the corresponding dialog box.
  1. Enter a name for the validation rule in the input field “Title”.
  2. Possibly enter a short description in the input field “Description”.
  3. Possibly tick the “Activate rule” checkbox to activate the rule.
  4. Possibly tick the “External rule” checkbox to define the rule as an external rule so that the validation result is also visible in iPIM SSP.
  5. Possibly tick the “Internal rule” checkbox to define the rule as an internal rule. An internal rule can be used as a subordinate rule of validation rules of particular ruletypes (since version 5.4.2).
This screenshot shows the configuration of a rule using the example of a comparison with a constant comparison value.
  1. Define a condition:
    1. From the “Attributes” menu, select the iPIM Supply attribute whose attribute value is to be checked.
    2. From the “Comparator” menu, select an operator*:
      • < (Less than): In order to pass the validation, the size of a number value has be smaller than the comparison value.
      • > (Greater than): In order to pass the validation, the size of a number value has be greater than the comparison value.
      • ≤ (Less than or equal): In order to pass the validation, the size of a number value has be smaller than the comparison value or equal to it.
      • ≥ (Greater than or equal): In order to pass the validation, the size of a number value has be greater than the comparison value or equal to it.
      • = (Equal): In order to pass the validation, an attribute value has be equal to the comparison value.
      • ≠ (Not equal): In order to pass the validation, an attribute value must not be equal to the comparison value.
      • Empty: In order to pass the validation, an attribute must not possess a value.
      • Not empty: In order to pass the validation, an attribute has to possess a value.
    3. From the drop-down menu “Compared type” select a comparison type:
      • Attribute: The selected iPIM Supply attribute is compared with the value of another iPIM Supply attribute.
      • Constant: The selected iPIM Supply attribute is compared with a fixed value.
    4. Under “Compared value”, specify a compared values
      • If you chose the comparison type “Attribute”, select a comparison attribute from the menu.
      • If you chose the comparison type “Constant”, enter a comparison value in the input field.
  2. Possibly add further conditions:
    1. Click on the Add button. Following this, another set of input fields appears.
    2. Define the condition as described above.
    3. Repeat these steps for any further condition.
  3. Determine the behaviour in case of an unsuccessful validation. In order to do so, select the appropriate option from the “Result of validation rule hits” menu:
    • Error: The corresponding items are marked as invalid.
    • Warning: The corresponding items are flagged with a warning.
    • Rule: A subordinate rule is carried out. Select the subordinate rule from the menu (since version 5.4.2).
  4. Possibly configure a test run and carry it out in order to check if the configuration of the rule is valid.
  • In order to finish the configuration, click on the Save button. If the process was successful, a corresponding message will appear. The validation rule of is now set up.
  • In order to cancel the process, click on the Cancel button.
Note
*The selection of operators depends on the attribute type of the selected iPIM Supply attribute. Some operators are only available for number type attributes.
INFO
In order to deselect a selected attribute, click on the button in the row of the attribute.
