First introduced in version 5.4.2: For example, a validation rule of this type can be used to compare the values of two iPIM Supply attributes. The comparison is based on a specified calculation with an allowed tolerance between the calculation result and the actual attribute values. Among other things, this rule could be used to check whether the gap between sales prices and purchase prices complies with a specified price calculation.
- The validation rule can only be applied to number type attributes.
- In the process of a transformation, the validation rule is applied to the transformed iPIM Supply attributes.
For example, proceed as follows in order to create a validation rule that multiplies the value of a source attribute and compares the result with the value of a comparison attributes, whereby a specified tolerance is allowed:
- Select the rule type “Conditional calculation validation” from the menu.
- Click on the
button to call up the corresponding dialog box.
- Enter a name for the validation rule in the input field “Title”.
- Possibly enter a short description in the input field “Description”.
- Possibly tick the “Activate rule” checkbox to activate the rule.
- Possibly tick the “External rule” checkbox to define the rule as an external rule so that the validation result is also visible in iPIM SSP.
- Possibly tick the “Internal rule” checkbox to define the rule as an internal rule. An internal rule can be used as a subordinate rule of validation rules of particular ruletypes (since version 5.4.2).
- From the menu in the “Value source” column, select the option “Attribute”.
- From the menu in the “Value” column, select the iPIM Supply attribute that is to be the source attribute.

- Click on the
button. Following this appears a new set of input fields. - From the menu in the “Value source” column, select the option “Constant”.
- In the input field of the “Value” column, enter a fixed value for the calculation operation.
- From the menu in the “Calculation rule” column, select the option “Multiplication”.
- From the menu “Comparison value”, select the iPIM Supply attribute the source attribute is to be compared with.
- In the input field “Tolerance”, enter the value for the permitted deviation.
- Determine the behaviour in case of an unsuccessful validation. In order to do so, select the appropriate option from the “Result of validation rule hits” menu:
- Error: The corresponding items are marked as invalid.
- Warning: The corresponding items are flagged with a warning.
- Rule: A subordinate rule is carried out. Select the subordinate rule from the menu (since version 5.4.2).
- Possibly configure a test run and carry it out in order to check if the configuration of the rule is valid.
- In order to finish the configuration, click on the
button. If the process was successful, a corresponding message will appear. The validation rule of is now set up. - In order to cancel the process, click on the
button.
In order to remove a set of input fields again, click on the
button in the respective row.
