Contains strings

Validation rules of this type can be used to check imported item data whether individual supplier attributes contain specified words or strings or not.

Note
  • Different conditions can specified for a validation. A validation is passed if an attribute values does not fulfill the specified conditions.
  • In the process of a transformation, the validation rule is applied to the transformed iPIM Supply attributes.

In order to set up a validation rule of this type, proceed as follows:

  1. Select the rule type “Contains strings” from the menu.
  2. Click on the Add button to call up the corresponding dialog box.
  1. Enter a name for the validation rule in the input field “Title”.
  2. Possibly enter a short description in the input field “Description”.
  3. From the “Attribute” menu, select an attribute whose attribute value is to be checked for the specified conditions. Possibly use the text search to filter the list of attributes by a search term.
  4. Possibly tick the “Activate rule” checkbox to activate the rule.
  5. Possibly tick the “External rule” checkbox to define the rule as an external rule so that the validation result is also visible in iPIM SSP.
  1. Possibly tick the “Internal rule” checkbox to define the rule as an internal rule. An internal rule can be used as a subordinate rule of validation rules of particular ruletypes (since version 5.4.2).
  2. Define a condition:
    1. Enter a search term in the input field “Search for”.
    2. Select a search mode from the “Search mode” menu. The search mode determines how the respective attribute values are compared with the search term:
      • Anywhere: A validation fails if an attribute value contains the search term at a given location.
      • Word: A validation fails if an attribute value contains the search term as a separated string.
      • Exact: A validation fails if an attribute value exactly corresponds to the search term.
      • Does not contain: A validation fails if an attribute value does not contain the search term.
      • Starts with: A validation fails if an attribute value starts with the search term.
      • Does not start with: A validation fails if an attribute value does not start with the search term.
      • Ends with: A validation fails if an attribute value ends with the search term.
      • Does not end with: A validation fails if an attribute value does not end with the search term.
      • Regular expression: A validation fails if an attribute value complies with the regular expression. In order to learn more about the syntax of regular expressions, click here.
    3. Possibly tick the checkbox “Case-sensitive” so that case sensitivity is taken into account when comparing the search term and the respective attribute values.
  3. Possibly add further conditions:
    1. Click on the “Add Add” button. Following this, another set of input fields appears.
    2. Define the condition as described above.
    3. Repeat these steps for any further condition.
  4. Determine the behaviour in case of an unsuccessful validation. In order to do so, select the appropriate option from the “Result of validation rule hits” menu:
    • Error: The corresponding items are marked as invalid.
    • Warning: The corresponding items are flagged with a warning.
    • Rule: A subordinate rule is carried out. Select the subordinate rule from the menu (since version 5.4.2).
  5. Possibly configure a test run and carry it out in order to check if the configuration of the rule is valid.
  • In order to finish the configuration, click on the "Confirm Save" button. If the process was successful, a corresponding message will appear. The validation rule of is now set up.
  • In order to cancel the process, click on the "Cancel Cancel" button.
