A validation rule of this type can be used check for value list attributes with dependent value mappings whether the value pairings between the imported supplier attributes match the value mappings that are established between the corresponding iPIM attributes. This also includes a check if a value was imported for the dependent attribute at all.
- You need to import item data for the initial attribute as well as for the dependent attribute. Otherwise the validation rule does not take effet.
- In the process of a transformation, the validation rule is applied to the transformed iPIM Supply attributes.
In order to set up a validation rule of this type, proceed as follows:
- Select the rule type “Dependent attribute validator” from the “Choose rule type” menu.
- Click on the
button to call up the corresponding dialog box.
- Enter a name for the validation rule in the input field “Title”.
- Possibly enter a short description in the input field “Description”.
- Possibly tick the “Activate rule” checkbox to activate the rule.
- Possibly tick the “External rule” checkbox to define the rule as an external rule so that the validation result is also visible in iPIM SSP.

- Possibly tick the “Internal rule” checkbox to define the rule as an internal rule. An internal rule can be used as a subordinate rule of validation rules of particular ruletypes (since version 5.4.2).
- Select the desired option from the “Relation type” menu:
- MANDATORY: Only value mappings with the relation type “Mandatory” are taken into account. For attributes, for which an “Optional” type relation is established, the validation can still be successful even if no corresponding value has been imported for a dependent attribute.
- MANDATORY AND OPTIONAL: Value mappings with both kinds of relation types are taken into account, so that the validation generally fails if an imported value pair doesn’t match the corresponding value mapping.
- Determine the behaviour in case of an unsuccessful validation. In order to do so, select the appropriate option from the “Result of validation rule hits” menu:
- Error: The corresponding items are marked as invalid.
- Warning: The corresponding items are flagged with a warning.
- Rule: A subordinate rule is carried out. Select the subordinate rule from the menu (since version 5.4.2).
- Possibly configure a test run and carry it out in order to check if the configuration of the rule is valid.
- In order to finish the configuration, click on the
button. If the process was successful, a corresponding message will appear. The validation rule of is now set up. - In order to cancel the process, click on the
button.
